WOLVES
A natural evolution of the city’s name, but one that was intentionally "weaponized" in the 1970s. While "Wolverhampton" was often shortened to "Wolves" in conversation, the club decided to transform the name into a fierce, predatory brand. Wolves were pioneers of modern branding; they were one of the first clubs to ditch a complex civic coat of arms for a minimalist, aggressive wolf head on their shirts. This move shifted their identity from a mere geographic location to a "pack" with a distinct, hunting mentality.
