BEES
In 1894, students from the nearby Borough Road College attended a match to support their friend, Joe Gettins. They began chanting "Buck up, Bs!" (using "Bs" as an abbreviation for Brentford). Local journalists, unaware of the college shorthand, heard the buzzing sound of the chant and reported in the newspapers the next day that the team was nicknamed "The Bees." The club liked it so much they eventually changed their crest to a bee.
